NUMBERS · LETTERS · MEMORY

Look closely at a pattern.

See how a calculation takes shape; learn which tradition an interpretation belongs to.

0123456781mod 9

Same number, different notation.

1103710221019100

1729 leaves remainder 1 when divided by 9.

This circle shows arithmetic relationships. It does not measure personality or predict the future.

01 / EBCED

Letters as numbers

In the usual abjad table, ا = 1, ب = 2, ج = 3. These letters total 6. The calculation adds assigned values, rather than meaning.

Take the thought further

Can you recover 6 by adding the letter values?

02 / CHRONOGRAM

A year within a phrase

A chronogram encodes an event's year through letter values in a phrase. Reading one calls for the original spelling, the dating phrase and its calendar.

Take the thought further

Which calendar do you need before interpreting the year?

03 / READING

Keep the calculation visible

Historical conventions can differ. To compare totals, keep the letter table, spelling and conversion steps visible. Different results may reflect different rules.

Take the thought further

Which rules should stay the same when comparing two totals?

04 / BASES

Same number, new notation

Decimal 13 is 1101₂ in binary: 8 + 4 + 0 + 1. Changing the base changes notation and place weights, not the quantity.

Take the thought further

Why is the first 1 in 1101₂ worth 8?

05 / MODULO

Read a cycle by remainders

Modular arithmetic works with remainder classes. Four hours after 11 on a 12-hour dial is 3: 15 ≡ 3 (mod 12). Remainder 0 appears as 12.

Take the thought further

Why does adding four hours to 11 show 3 on the dial?

06 / DIGIT SUM

The mathematics of digit sums

In base ten, 10 ≡ 1 (mod 9). So 347 and 3 + 4 + 7 = 14 leave the same remainder modulo 9: 5. This follows from place value.

Take the thought further

Why do 347 and 14 leave the same remainder modulo 9?

07 / PROOF

From pattern to proof

A few examples can suggest a conjecture without proving it for every case. A proof makes the logical steps from assumptions to conclusion explicit.

Which logical steps are still needed after checking examples?

08 / COUNTEREXAMPLE

What a counterexample can do

The claim “every odd number is prime” fails at 9: 9 = 3 × 3. One valid counterexample is enough to disprove a universal claim.

Take the thought further

How does 9 disprove this claim?

Which question could you explore further?

Editorial reflection prompt · Not a scientific personality test

L + A + L → 3 + 1 + 3 → 7

01 · Make the method visible

The laboratory compares two modern letter tables. The table commonly called “Pythagorean” assigns Latin letters in a 1–9 cycle; the Chaldean variant uses a different 1–8 mapping. These names do not establish an unchanged transmission from antiquity.

02 · From letters to a sum

Letters receive values from the selected table; the result exposes the sum and reduction steps. In the modern 1–9 table, the basic Latin spelling LAL gives 3 + 1 + 3 = 7. This is an arithmetic example, not a verified statement about personality or the future.

03 · One name, different tables

LAL also gives 3 + 1 + 3 = 7 in the Chaldean variant; other names may differ. A changed result does not identify a “correct personality”. Compare letter conversion, vowel rules and reduction. Different names with equal totals need not carry equal meanings.

04 · Historical thought, modern interpretation

Number and proportion matter in the ancient Pythagorean tradition. Modern name analysis is not identical to it. “Resonance” here names a symbolic interpretation, not an acoustic frequency or measured physical vibration. LÂL offers questions for reflection, not compulsory decisions or certain destiny.
